Tunable Downconverters

Tunable downconverters are used to convert real samples of an input signal located anywhere within the A/D band to baseband. After tuning, the samples are filtered and decimated multiple times to achieve the desired bandwidth, sample rate and frequency response.

Highlights:

  • Take in real A/D samples in band around intermediate frequency (IF) and convert to baseband
  • IF frequency not fixed; can be retuned
  • Decimation can be varied based on signal bandwidth and desired output sample rate
