Tunable Upconverters

Tunable upconverters are used to convert complex samples of an input signal centered at baseband to anywhere within the A/D bandwidth. The samples are filtered and interpolated multiple times to achieve the desired bandwidth, sample rate and frequency response, after which they are upconverted to the desired output frequency.

  • Takes in complex samples at baseband and converts to intermediate frequency (IF)
  • IF frequency not fixed; can be retuned
  • Interpolation can be varied based on signal bandwidth and desired output sample rate
