Europe has long required safety certification in most of its defense platforms. Now that requirement is expanding into most US-based defense platforms. As this demand in the US increases, so do the complexity and performance requirements of these applications. Direct support of HD imagery and huge leaps in processing power, enough to deliver real time response while implementing AI and machine learning functions, is more than the traditional safety certified single-core processor can bear.
