Microwaves & RF Webinar, April 19, 2022

Advancements in solid-state storage technology has led to increasingly faster storage media, exposing bottlenecks in the interfaces that transfer data to and from storage drives.  NVME has introduced a transfer mechanism that leverages the high performance of NAND flash-based solid-state storage. PCIe has provided a roadmap that continues to double the data rates of the interfaces that move data through systems, allowing real-time recording systems to keep up with the ever-increasing speed requirements of wide bandwidth data recording.   This seminar discusses the evolution of SATA and the transition to NVME. It illustrates the different NVME form factors, the benefits of each and the packaging roadmap. It describes the ability to use NVME in a RAID configuration and explains the difference between VROC and hardware-driven RAIDs. It addresses the PCIe roadmap and its impact on NVME data rates.
